Load Securing
The Load Securing category brings together all key cargo fastening products: load securing nets, tensioning straps, ratchet lashing straps, and tension straps. Products suit car boots, trailers, roof racks, and flatbeds.
- Load rating and LC value: choose a strap based on the actual cargo weight — strap width alone does not indicate safe working load. Check the LC (lashing capacity) and STF (standard tension force) marked on the label.
- Length and anchor point compatibility: measure the distance between fixing points before purchasing; a strap that is too short will not reach, and an overly long one creates slack.
- Ratchet quality and hook design: a ratchet strap provides more controlled tensioning than a simple hook strap; check that the locking mechanism holds firmly under load.
- Weather and UV resistance: straps used outdoors must resist moisture and sunlight without fraying or loss of strength.
- Net mesh size: fine-mesh nets retain smaller items; larger mesh suits bulkier loads. Elastic construction adapts better to irregular shapes.
- Cable ties for light use only: plastic cable ties are suitable for temporary or lightweight fastening but are not a substitute for rated lashing straps when securing heavy cargo.
What is the difference between a ratchet strap and a regular lashing strap? A ratchet strap uses a toothed mechanism to tension the strap precisely and lock it in place, while a regular lashing strap relies on a cam buckle or hook and offers less controlled tensioning.
When should a load securing strap be replaced? Replace a strap if it shows fraying, cuts, heavy wear, or if the ratchet mechanism no longer locks securely. A damaged strap cannot reliably hold cargo in transit.
How many straps are needed to secure a load safely? As a general guideline, at least four attachment points are recommended, but the exact number depends on the weight, shape, and distribution of the load. A net placed on top alone does not substitute for proper strap securing.
Can tie-down straps be used on a roof rack? Yes, provided the strap length and hook type are compatible with the roof rack's anchor points, and the combined load does not exceed the roof rack's rated capacity.
